How's it going? Fall is almost upon us - the best time of year to run, as far as I'm concerned.
I raced(?) a 5K this weekend. OK, so I didn't exactly *race* it, but I wore my flats and ran the distance at a pace faster than a jog without having to stop. Surely that counts for something! I'm not going to post my time (it was s-l-o-w), but I was really pleased with my mile splits, which were a model of consistency . . . just 3 seconds between the slowest and the fastest.
Want to know the really funny thing? I ended up coming in second! Needless to say, it was not a competitive field. But it was a beautiful day, a beautiful riverfront course, and benefited a local anti-poverty organization. So, a fun event. I got to chat with one of my role models, a long-time breast cancer survivor who's still running (and running well) at 71.
