Had felix chose to run the 400m do you think she would have won gold? I didnt understand why she was opted to run the 100m at the trials. Perhaps she thought it would be too tiring to tiring to try and pull off the 200m/400m double.

The scheduling wasn't great for the 200/400 double.
Aug 16 - 400m round 1
Aug 17 - 400m semis
Aug 19 (morning) - 200m round 1
Aug 19 (evening) - 200m round 2, 400m final (~3hr break)
Aug 20 - 200m semis
Aug 21 - 200m final
If I recall correctly, I think the scheduling made it impossible to compete in both the 200 and 400. Had it worked out in her favor, I think she would have run the 400.
Richards would probably tried to run the 200 too.
Allyson should win a gold medal for having the most perfect ass in the world.
Why does everyone on this board want to move people up? That's one of the big problems with our system in the U.S. College coaches get ahold of good H.S milers, don't know how to train them, and move 'em up. Mileage mileage, mileage. No better way to ruin a fast miler.
Allison is fast and likes the 100m/200m. It may take time, but she may be the best in the world at both events in a couple of years. If she wants to move up, then she will...because she has exhausted the other possibilities...not because it is the easiest thing to do right now.
How about let's move Bungei up to the 10K. Wow...imagine, with his speed, what he could do?
Felix has already run sub 50 in the 400 and beaten Richards more than once. She didn't make the Olympic team in the 100 but she probably would've won gold in the 400. So why shouldn't she move up?
Normally I'd agree with you except Felix has run a number of 400 and shown that she is easily amongst the worlds best. Its not a question of if she can compete for gold more why doesn't she want to. In the case of 08 I'd say it was the schedule, but in 2012 if the schedule permits either a 200 / 400 or a 100 / 200 she should go for the 400.
BECAUSE SHE DOESN'T WANT TO. Allison is an intelligent girl. She knows how good she is at 400m. I would imagine Boddy Kersee knows as well. Let her be a short sprinter!
After Richards came down and ran the 200 last year at the World Championships, it seemed like Felix was going to go up and race the 200 and 400 at the Olympics but the schedule would have made it too difficult for that double.
She wasn't about to give up on the 200 after the success she had last year at it. Running the 100 made sense so she could try to double and get on both relays.
