Uh, yeah. Why else would you question if they're too young? It's not like this is the first time the US has competed in world gymnastic competitions. The coaches get a feel for how old competitors are. These young ladies look exceptionally young, so they are having their age questioned.

That is correct, but there are also questions because these girls were 14 years old, until the Olympic rosters were released (and their passports subsequently doctored). If they only LOOKED young, it wouldn't be as big of an issue as it is. There is other evidence too, as stated on page 3 of this board. Like it or not, their gold medal will always have an asterisk by it. It's a shame, because with the way the US/Russian/Romanian teams messed up in the competition, the Chinese team could have probably won by playing fairly with appropriate-aged gymnasts.
lol, the poster '2' doesn't know engish very well.
ENGISH learn it. lol. I think he was sent here by the gov of a certain host nation.
so evidence what is there for against the girls you jus think they young?

Haha! And the "evidences!" Look, they have a number 3 now! Right above me!
Gee, I wonder who sent them here? LOL. I thought for sure this site would be blocked over there in China, seeing how they don't believe in free press (or free anything, for that matter). And there are anti-China statements here. Oooh, we're baaaad.
Agreed, however, is what the Chinese government doing to these girls any different from what the parents of the USA girls are doing to their own children? They purposely send them away to train with likes of tyrants like Bella and the PAY $$$$$ him for it. This whole sport is child abuse no matter which way you look at and should be banned until it is cleaned up. Any sport where you're washed up at 16 should be eliminated. It's nothing but a circus freak show.
Man, I can't wait for 4,5,6, and 7 to say something smart.

The difference is is that the US government is not plucking these children from their homes at the age of 3 and financing their gymnastics exploits at the expense of 100s of millions of its citizens living in poverty.

And to think, if we did pluck our kids away at the age of 3 how absolutely dominant would we be? Our girls don't start "elite" training till they're 10 (according to the commentators) and we still managed to give the Chinese a run for their money until things fell apart during the last two rotations.
Some of the girls like Shawn and Nastia started around age 3. Maybe not "elite" training, but they took up the sport at age 3.
So let's pretend the Chinese girls are in fact underage. Is that the reason why the American girls fell off the balance beam, fell on their asses on the floor routine and stepped out of bounds about 4 times during the floor exercise?
No one is saying that the Chinese team wasn't better. True, the US & Russian teams choked. But that's what makes this scenario even worse, because the Chinese gymnasts could have won FAIRLY! And they chose to be dishonest. Their gold medal is tarnished - and they can blame their government sports program for the asterisk that will forever be by their names.

Nastia & Shawn took up the sport because they wanted to do it, not because some government agent came to their door and measured them, and said they have a good body for gymnastics. Hell, I tried tumbling classes at a very early age (about 4), but I didn't like it, so I quit. Growing up, my parents wanted us to just try a bunch of different sports to see if we liked it, as a hobby! Not to groom the next Olympic champion! If you can't see the difference between Shawn Johnson & these government-sponsored Chinese robots, then you are ridiculous.
lol, USA girl is about as American and Peking Duck.
she would probably sell her children for a pretty house and a lifetime's supply of lip gloss.

What three year old knows what they wanna do? You are a moron! Bad argument!
My wife started Gymnastics around 3 or 4 and she definitely wanted to do it at that age.
Hell, when i was 3 or 4 I wanted to play baseball and I did...
Don't sell 3 or 4 year-olds short just because of their age, tots still know what they LIKE to do...just ask any of them. They'll tell you.

What the Americans did shouldn't matter. If the New York Times is correct, the Chinese are illegal, and the evidence of that is in their own words and the ages listed in OFFICIAL gymnastics competition results inside China.
The Chinese government produced fake passports, knowing the real ages of the athletes. If the Russians are guilty of "systematic doping" in the Russian Women's case as the IAAF is claiming, the Chinese, then, are guilty of systematic cheating, and the effect on the national federation should be the same (Decertification of the Russian Track and Field Federation is presently under consideration by the IOC).
You are a moron if you think the sports system here is the same as in China. Okay, fine. The 3 year-old Shawn Johnson's parents had an evil plot to take over the world, so they enrolled their kid in gymnastics class at age 3. There.
In the US, parents are responsible for children's actions. This is an example of how it plays out:
My parents, and many of my friends' parents, enrolled us in many sport classes at a young age. For example, I tried swimming, tee-ball, and tumbling. I hated tumbling, was neutral toward tee-ball, and loved swimming. So I kept taking classes. Eventually (in later years of school, like age 10-11) I tried basketball and volleyball, and other sports. I found my own way. Unlike the Chinese, I didn't have to stay in a tumbling class from the age of 3 if I didn't want to.
Shawn Johnson's parents enrolled her in the class, but she decided she liked it, and she was very good at it. It's more organic... unlike the contrived system that the commies came up with.
Oops, i forgot to end my rant with your intelligent phrase: BAD ARGUMENT!!! Genius.

yeah but you got to see Mommy and Daddy everyday dumbass.
Do these little girls in China? No, they get shipped off to do Gymnastics in the thousands. Many of them end up 14-15 years old without any real education and the only job for them is performing and prostituting on Chinese military bases. I kidd you not.
