They suck to me....just a cool name
How about some comments on these spikes....half of the US and the rest of the world come here and i can only get one reply....whats up with that?
Hello......
Hey everybody, I'm a 47 year old dude that believes in minimilism when it comes to running shoes. I have ran barefoot alot and in the past ran up to five miles barefoot but I came to the conclusion that spikes are the way to go especially since I run on dirt roads. I have gotten use to running in spikes for I have been running in some Nike waffle racers for several months now and have gotten over the pain in the calves from the low heel and it feels good for now i just land softer when in a bad place.
I want to get another pair of spikes so this is why i inquired about the devil dirt dogs....sounds like a dirt road shoe to me lol......give me some help and opinions.

Okay I am going to give you a serious reply... my university handed these out two seasons ago. They're pretty crappy entry-level spikes. I never raced in them and only wore them on grass workouts. I wouldn't consider paying over $20 for them. They just felt heavy and didn't have a lot of support or cushion. Like I said, they were good grass/XC workout shoes, but I used better spikes for races.
the new ones only weigh 5.9 oz ... so they worked on that. I have heard from everyone that has the newly redesigned ones that they love them. They look pretty cool too especially the 08'- 09' design.

Thanks everybody for the input, I'm grateful for the responses.
yeah i too actually liked them for grass or xc stuff. not horrible and good for entry level. i had them my sophomore year in h/s, and got another pair the past two years just for xc workouts.
The new ones are completely different from the original dirt dogs and are very light, they're excellent for cross country and they have rubber cleat things (like on golf shoes)that can be put in for hard courses. That said, there are slight problems. Firstly, unless you have very wide feet there'll be too much room in the toe box. Secondly, the sole is thin and if you run over hard ground even with the rubber studs you can feel pressure over the spike wells. The last problem is that, given the lightweight construction, the sole isn't particularly durable- mostly it is just a felt material with some rubber strips. Its ideal for grass, but it wouldn't last long training on roads/ dirt trails.
If you're looking for a minimalist trainer, either get more waffle racers or the saucony kilkenny. If you want an XC racer and have wide feet then the dirt dog ii is an excellent choice.
Pish flaps.
That's all I have to say about these spikes. Fecking pish flaps.
What the heck is a pish flap.?
Lol, that is good cause i have 4E wide feet, though my Nike waffle racer fives are med. I can still wear them, just don't lace tight at the toe end. Oh yeah and I have yet to find a wide spike shoe. Thanks all again
How about the original Dirt Dog? Also, how is the sizing on the origial ones? I see that Eastbay says to size up.
