Man, the defending champs are out of the top 25! Still, I think that's fair. They just lost so much to graduation. It'll take them a while to move up, I'd say--someone said they're not running 8k/5M until October?

Okay, forget that, I found their schedule and they're hosting a meet at VCP on 9/20--that's gotta be 8k (if not 10k).
Unless Nick McD keeps his varsity out of the meet? He's done stuff like that before...

I heard UWSP had a time trial (not sure if on track or xc course) where 12 broke 15:40 within the last week...not bad.
BUMP
I'm calling bullshit on Johns Hopkins being ranked. They're definately in contention for the top 5 in the ME region, but I don't believe that they are a national caliber team...
nyu invite is a 5k
Oshkosh, Oshkosh B'Gosh
I like Oshkosh. Their coach always under ranks them as a regional leader. Most of the midwest picks them as the top team regardless of their 'under the radar' national scene. I personally pick them over UW Stevens Point, with ease. With Willy giving them a big one point, it's there's to lose! *agreeing w/ those B'gosh posters!
oshkosh will kick some serious ass come mid/end-season

Just took a look at the Sept. 14 (men's) national rankings, and it would indeed appear that the UAA meet will again be outstanding. Three UAA squads (CMU, CWRU, WUStL) are all ranked ahead of defending champ NYU, and Brandeis and Emory (who'll be running at home) are also in the top 35 nationally.
Not as many of the UAA women's teams are ranked, but the three that are (Wash, Case, Emory) are in the top 20, and should have a terrific competition.
And they host the best D-3 meet in the country on October 18 at the UW-Oshkosh Brooks Invitational. No other meet comes close to this quality.
Everybody wants to be there because Coach Zupanc is such a good guy.
Paul Short results

Cortland looks really strong, with a 24:50 top 5 average. Lehigh is a fast course, but not as fast as some.
has anyone noticed that north central beat calvin and stevens point handily yesterday at notre dame? or that willy kaul ran 26:55? no? just me?
Heard from 3 different coaches at the Paul Short meet, the course ran the fastest they've ever seen it. Ground hard, cool and not humid, and the seeded race leader went out in 430, pulling the whole race out fast. Most thought it ran 20 seconds faster than past years, for whatever thats worth.
Did Calvin and Steven Point run everyone? I did notice one of the calvin guys whose name I knew from past years was way back, as was Kaul. Anyone have any info on whose hurt or not on any of those teams?
Other Oshkosh kid is running well, NC looked strong, but no one up front really, no not sure how that group fits in at an NCAA type race? Look at LAX last year, great pack running to get 70-75th places
Oshkosh and Oberlin meets in 2 weeks will tell alot, with alot of inter-regional (ranked teams) competition at both.
NCC put 4 in front of last years 35th place finisher. Fact is, they've been overlooked this year due to their failures at Nats the last 3 years. This team will contend for a top 3 finish.
No front runner? Their top guy was 8 seconds off of Calvins #1 guy, I would argue they have 4 front runners.
In regards to Kaul, he was leading early and in the top group until about 3 miles and then fell off bad, he'll still be top 5 at nats.
Just saw Willamette results, featuring the top teams in the west region... and it looks bad. Was the course super slow today? Because the top D3 finish this year would have been probably 6th or 7th in previous years. Also, Willamette looks far from dominant this year, losing to CMS and Whitman this week, while barely edging out Whitworth, who they lost to a few weeks back.
Is the west really that bad this year? I know a lot was lost to graduation, but usually some people manage to step it up to fill in the spots.

maybe they have some people banged up..anybody know?
Any thoughts on the Hanover Prenats meet? How was the course, for those who ran it?
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
