So you've joined hundreds of others in the ranks of blind negativity on this forum. Duly noted. But if your head wasn't exploring the decor inside your ascending colon, you might note that Franklin is a much better distance guy (in both cross country and in the 3200) then Kersh was, and as a result clearly has a lot more 1500/mile potential.
I can name a number of sub-four guys and near-subbers who didn't run as fast as Franklin already has in the 800, and high-schoolers can make unusually big leaps in a single race.
In short, I hope you aren't really a coach.
Yes, I really am a coach. I threw Kersh's name out there because I remember when he and Paul Vandergift had an official "attempt" at a sub 4 mile. At that time, it had already been close to 20 years since the last one and it got quite a bit of publicity. There was a Sports Illustrated article on the attempt. I'm going off the top of my head here, but I think Vandergift won in 4:04-4:05.
I've been around long enough to know that sub 4 at the high school level doesn't come along that often.
I wasn't trying to be negative nor was I trying to insult anybody. Just wanted to point out that Kersh has a slew of sub 1:48s (HS PR of 1:46.58) under his belt when he took a crack at the 4 min mile.
