I wish everybody would quit saying the GMU won the DMR that year (1996) because I am pretty confident that they were second or third (they did win the overall team title though). Nebraska won when Togyesi took out the first 400 of the 1600 leg in like 56 or 57 and Achon and Sullivan (Michigan) just assumed he would come back to them. They were closing hard the last 200m, but they couldn't catch Tolgyesi. Later that outdoor season Nebraska's Kiptarus and Tolgyesi went 2-4 at the NCAA outdoor meet in the 1500. Koerrs (Illinois) and Achone were 1-3. Tolgyesi ran the then (maybe still) Hungarian record of 3:35.xx in the Atlanta Olympics semis.
