Five girls break 5:00 in Florida 4A State Meet

Are you serious? Already talking about Brasovan being a marathoner after college, and she's a high school junior!? Geez, you need to get a life.

Sounds like she could be a great 5000-10,000m runner if she has the nation's 4th fastest time over 3200m, much like a Prefontaine, Solinsky, et al..

That is rather shocking...5:00 and 1016 basically...I'm sure she's better at the longer races. But i have a hard time believing she can't do better then she did in the 1600 if she followed it up with a 1016! Maybe she went out to hard? tripped? Or just had a really bad race? Endurance or not, she should be able to run faster i would think.

well the world leader for the womens marathon is 17 or 18 years old. and the girl who won boston is 22, young people can and have run good marathons.

I agree with Mrr82, how can she run 4:59 and then 10:16? Unless the 1600 was slow/tactical for 2 laps. I would think with a 10:16 that her 1600 time would be closer to 4:40 -4:45 range.

As for the marathon, this girl is extremely petite. I think she weighs about 75-80 pounds. I hope she doesn't attempt anything over 10k for many years. Good luck to her in the future.

Last year she ran 4:55 and lost by .13 to Amaro. She then came back and destroyed Amaro in similar fashion, finishing in a state meet record 10:13! When she runs she looks like her legs just won't go any faster. Too bad she was injured most of this track season, who knows what kind of times she would be running

bezunesh bekele is also very petite at 4 foot 6 and 82 pounds, bezunesh bekele ran her first marathon in january 2008 in 2 hours 23 minutes and 9 seconds.

Brasovan has been injured this spring. She injured her back so she missed some time. The girls 1600 race was also all over the map as far as splits. It was reported that they went 63-228-341-452. That is some crazy racing.
