If this kid stays healthy, he'll be rollin' next year.

He ran a (converted) 4:08 mile last year as a soph.
That'd be sweet if he ended up running for UCSD. He would already have the 800m and 1500m school records.
No one cares. If he can't manage to stay healthy, NO ONE CARES.
Let's wait till he actually runs a 4:08 or the likes at state.

care to guess what he ran at state last year???
I KNOW he ran 4:08 at state last year.
But he has been injured for SO LONG, can he even repeat that performance again let alone go underneath that?
dude, he just ran 1:50.0x to win a d2 college invitational race. not too shabby. this is definitely one of those talented runners you don't count out of being able to outdue what he/she did the year before, regardless of injury. i personally wouldn't bet on him not running faster, and i would use state as the only justification. if i was anyone, i would worry about the fact that he just ran 1:50. hell if he was injured, he ain't no more.
He missed two weeks in November to have surgery on his foot and came back nice and slowly. He'll be fine.
This is exactly what people were saying about Taye his freshman year, "Oh he's so great" "Oh he's the next sub 4" "Oh he will beat everybody."
Wait at least until the end of this year.
He ran 1:53 earlier in the year - with negative splits.
He's been pretty low key in dual meets, and only ran relays at the big invitationals (Arcadia and Mt. Sac, but had 3:03 and a couple of 4:11 splits).
He did have surgery last fall after a promising xc start, and I heard he had several set backs while trying to come back from that in the winter. However, he was pretty injury free as a fresh and soph.
His dad (ca state 2-mile champ in 1971, Dale Fleet), on the other hand, did have injury problems post high school.
The local papers interviewed him earlier in the year and he was thinking of concentrating on the 800 this year because of a lack of base, but after the 1:50 he says he plans on running the 1600 now.
WOW,
Why all the negativity! The kid has a lot of talent. He had foot surgery last fall, give him a break. I'm excited to see a future 1500/5000 runner who can run a a 1:50 as a junior in high school. Mack has some good people around him, most notably, his father. Dale was a great runner himself and involved in the sport his whole adult life. They are taking the track of being cautious this year which sounds like a smart move to me.
I have seen him run on a few occassions and he is the real deal. I think we will great things from him in the future!
It's a message board. People live to be negative a-holes here.
Well, at least some people do. It'd be nice if they grew up, but, hey, it's a free country.
For me it's a thrill to see Mac out there doing well.
I remember his dad and Dave Harper from the 70's.
I'd love to see him win state this year and next. He peaked really well last year. Maybe he can do it again.
Holy F****ing Sh**. Employee 1.1 just broke 15:00 for 5000 for the 1st time at age 36.
