I'm a college frosh. I came into xc last fall in great shape, better shape than I'd ever been in at the beginning of a season. All I did over the summer was build up mileage and it seemed to work for me. Once xc started, we started cranking out workouts 3 times a week, including near all out tempo runs. I got tired pretty fast and by November, I was toast.
After a rest I started building back up after xc and was totally rejuvinated. I was really excited about indoor because I again was feeling really good. Well, sure enough, when we got back from christmas break and started doing hard workouts, my fitness fell off. Since early February I have just gotten slower and slower, until now I'm running 1500s in the same time as my 1600m PR from high school, and 800s slower than my (HS) freshman PR.
During xc, I came on here and asked for advice, and everyone told me to get more sleep, eat right, stick it out and I'd be fine. Well, I did all those things and it doesn't seem to be working. I feel like my coach is just overtraining me, and most of the team feels the same way, although they don't seem to be as affected as me. It's been a bitch of a year, and I think I've had enough.
How and when do I tell my coach I'm done? Are there any deadlines? My coach is a kind of "in your face" type of guy, so I'm not looking forward to the whole thing.
Any advice would be appreciated.
