As the one who originally posted the fake New York Times story regarding the Ivy League, I would like to formally apologize to all parties involved: LetsRun.com, The New York Times, and the Ivy League. No harm was meant in the posting, and it is unfortunate that the intent of piece was not understood by TNFN until it was far too late. My intention was to draw the reader's attention to the similarities between the Ivy League and NCAA Division III athletics. The main two being: (1) they both go without athletic scholarships and (2) they are both deeply concerned with both the academic an athletic development of their students.
Apparently, the thread has been removed from the LetsRun.com message board so the public can no longer see the "jk" that was included at the end of the post. This stands for "just kidding" and was intended to be an obvious indication that the post was not an authentic New York Times article and was more in the spirit of The Onion (Although, I am unfortunately not very funny.) If memory serves, all the subsequent posts in the thread inferred the correct intent of the post.
I hope this incident does not adversely affect LetsRun.com in any way. Rojo and Wejo provide us all with so much great insight, humor, and information. What would we do without them?
Again, I am truly sorry.
