I have recently moved to the NYC area and am staying in Brooklyn for now (working in Times Square and Williamsburg, with my housing focus on Williamsburg) . I am interested in finding a group of runners to train once in a while with either in Prospect Park (convenient) or Central Park (less so) before and/or after work (unfortunately this means around 7:30 am and 8:00 pm). I am coming off a long lay-off due to injuries but am shooting for a sub-2:40 marathon in the spring and it would be great to join up with some people who run similar paces. I will miss the great training community where I was before, but in a city this size there must be comparable groups (I hope). I have researched the area running clubs but I am committed to continuing to race for my previous team, so I would like to find a more loose-knit group to run workouts with. Also, any information on relatively safe outdoor tracks/fields that are open late evenings is appreciated, as is logistical info pertaining to running in the city and commuting to the parks to do so.
