Start with a barefoot runner running on a track.
Let's say it's Bekele running a 5,000.
Now add the lightest available spikes (let's say 100g).
A) Estimate how much the added traction benefits Bekele in terms of time saved over 5,000m.
Suppose we can gradually increase the weight of the spikes.
B) Estimate the weight, in grams, at which the benefits of the spikes' traction is nullified by their weight.
I'm curious to see what everyone thinks.
