Anybody else still laughing about that? Those TV guys have been known to ignore some races, but making up results is a creative novelty.

And do you realize that they are calling the meet from studios in New Jersey (or is it Ct).
Actually, I'd honestly rather them call it "live" rather than do one of those taped jobs where they know who won.
Yeah it's in NJ (my basement actually). I just thought it was pretty funny that they were saying Regina won while at the same time they were showing a photo of her getting outleaned at the tape!
rawson has run 4:07 for mile back about 30 years ago for BC. he aint no bloated tom hammond. i remember watching 1986 commonwealth games for 2-3 hr on espn, seeing cram run 2:16 for first 800m. Times have changed, at least espn show the meet tape delayed.
You do know that Jacobs was originally declared the winner. It wasn't until Turova's manager challenged the results that the photo was re-read and duly noted by Larry Rawson later in the show.
By the way, Rawson anchored the winning dmr at the 1963 Penn Relays.

I liked Rawson's remark after Szabo's 8:21 - "An unofficial world record"
In other words ... to hell with Wang Junxia and friends
szabo is no cleaner than the chinese
romanian women have a long history of drug use in the middle distances...in the late 1970s they had several notable positive tests...the runners are still using, at least the women are, the men are too busy chain smoking
But Szabo performs consistently year after year in different areas of the world, whereas the chinese runners were all of a sudden world record holders in one year in their own city and facilities and never duplicated their performance elsewhere.
1993 and 1997.
