Just wondering can anyone tell me Boaz' age?
Just wondering can anyone tell me Boaz' age?
The Boaz in the Old Testament would be around 5500 years old , give or take. Definitely a Master.
T&FN says 23.
He's twenty three now but thinks he might turn forty when performances start to decline. " I will run Master's races possibly in 2007, maybe sooner, hopefully later. Whichever is convenient and keeps the cheques coming."
here is something fun to do for all you out there with extra time between classes. go back and search race results from the 2 years before boaz came to school and look to see what he ran and where it was at. then go find out what those meets pay for that place or rabbit job. still worried about his age?
You bunch of jealous bastards. Lay off Boaz. You have no reason to believe that Boaz is not the age that everyone knows he is and that Boaz wasn't paid anything but expenses to attend meets in Europe (if you do your research you will find that Kimani and other collegiate athletes get the same treatment). You don't like Boaz because he is fast. Plain and simple. You would like all that you say about him to be true, but it isn't. Boaz is a great person along with being a talented runner. You people fail to realize that. It would be a breath of fresh air for people to stop hiding on these forumns and either come out and say things in public so everyone knows who is saying it, or for people like you to just to shut the hell up.
Hey dip shit, I guess that means you too!!
Oh and ME!
Oh no I am a dip shit. Wow, that really cuts me deep. I am going to need months of theropy.
You guys are just jealous of Boaz. If you are half as fast as Boaz when you are 78 you wil be very lucky. Leave the senior citizen alone. Next thing you guys are going to be pissed because he is using his social security checks to pay for his tuition. I can't believe you jealous people! Respect you elders. I mean, would you want someone ripping on your grandfather? I think not.
Looks like we have an EMU English major in our ranks. What the hell is theropy?
A bunch of top road racing kenyans live in my hometown and I was asking them if they knew Boaz they all said that they did and that he was 28 years old and that he had taken money on several occasions. That being said I would bet a lot of schools and coaches have put a lot of time into trying to prove that Boaz took money and if/when he did he was really smart about covering it up before he got to EMU.
Keep dreaming. Jealousy and envy will probably get you somewhere...but nowhere close to Boaz!

Ha...ha..ha...you jealous, underachieving Americans crack me up. Let's say he's 30..or 35...take your pick...what's the difference? The reason American runners can't compete with the rest of the world is not because Boaz MIGHT be older than you think he should be...so lay aside the EPO, altitude, genetics, diet, ugali, economic pressure and blood doping and reach into your grab bag of tired excuses again...and when you're done doing that go join the circle jerk at the throne of the 2:11 marathoner.

Once again you miss the point. If he's within the age restriction of NCAA Div I schools then he's ineligible to compete in those competitions. Thems the rules.

Sorry - can't type s/b if he's not within the age restriction he' ineligible.
Regardless of what your opinions are about Boaz's age is
he is faster than 99.9% of the readers and posters on this
site. The NCAA has approved him to compete in collegiate
meets and thats all that matters. The individuals that are
complaining about Boaz's age needs to find something else to
complain about, as he is a great athlete and nice individual.

Is there an age restriction? I don't think it exists in other sports -- lots of guys play pro baseball or enter the service or whatever then come back and start playing college sports at 24-25. Chris Weinke won the Heisman a couple of years ago at 28. Does XC have age limits?
boaz is a great runner. i know that the only reason that he came to a university is so that he could get an education and be an educator in his home country. both his speed and his genuine zeal for learning are admirable. as a fan, alumni, and supporter of a certain institution which is an excellent school for cross country and track and field, i think that it is a disservice to my alma matre to be forced to race against any person who is above the age limit and/or has raced professionally because it is an unfair advantage within the NCAA system. I dont know boaz's age, i dont know if he knows his age, many kenyans dont. as an alumni of said track powerhouse we have many alumni who are on the same track circuit in europe. some who use the same agent and even lived with boaz in europe during the season. the checks were written and boaz cashed them. nothing will ever come of it and it happens all the time with athletes that are good enough to race in europe while they attend school, but as i said, i am looking out for my team's best interest.
who cares if he took money? when i was in college, if i was to take $75 for winning the middle of nowhere 10k, would that make me any faster? i think not. if he made money, used it for himself, and didn't get caught, then who cares. i'm sure all collegiate guys would take money at road races if they knew there was no chance of getting caught. it provides no benefit aside from adding to the already small bank account.
as for his age, again, who cares. no one would complain if thye had to run against a 28 year old guy in college who ran 32:00. only when we are beaten do we start to notice someone.

Boaz ! aside..............
I think it's about time that AMERICAN colleges
support AMERICAN athletes. Enough of free rides
for good runners from abroad. No wonder USA performs
so poorly in international competition.....NO
homeland development !
