Hello. I would appreciate any wisdom or insight into this running question. I have upped my mileage from 35-40 per week to around 60 miles per week over the past few months. However, due to the snow still on the roads here and frigid temeratures, I have only run sub 6:00 pace a few times this winter. My long runs are going much more smoothly and faster than before with less effort even though I am in layers of clothes usually. I am racing a 5K this weekend where the roads should be clear. Do I have a chance at 5:30 pace or would that be suicide as I have not been there in training. Will my additional mileage and tempo runs carry me or will the lack of speedwork destroy any hope? Thanks.
