etown beat up Millersville and again this year proved they are the best small college team in the area.
Millersville could only put Stallings in front and then etown had the next 7. A great perfomance by the Jays which will lead into a top 5 finish nationally in November. Oh yeah, etown women also won for the first time in this annual meet. Millersville thinks they are good but they don't back it up.
Dont get too high on E-Town or think that Millersville is weak, Ville did run on the tough, muddy Great American course just 3 days before this "battle"
We\'ll get to see another great dii-diii matchup at Williams on the 19th. Etown, Haverford, and Williams will all get a chance to race the now ranked number 7, U-Mass Lowell.

it bothers me to see that etown gets all excited about beating ville at 6k, right after ville raced at great american. ville is getting ready for a 10k race at nationals not a dinky 8k like d-3 does at nationals.
give it up to the bororunner...he knows whats up, the ville doesnt gear themselves up for the battle of the buggy like etown, who takes the weekend off before that race. etown is a good team but that battle of the buggy race can't take anything away from millersville...dont believe me? then wait til novemeber[quote]bororunner wrote:

Why shouldn't E-Town be excited about beating Millersville? They raced better than millersville, they have the right to be pumped about it. To say that E-Town just got lucky is just disrespectful. When you lose to someone, do you go up and tell them that you could have beat them? I hope not. There's nothing you can say if you lost, this should be true not only of individuals, but of teams as well. Maybe millersville could have raced better, but they didn't.
I sure hope you didn't gear yourselves up for the Battle of the buggy. Etown didn't, and the weekends they don't race they usually do a workout that is harder than racing. So, as for them gearing themselves yup, you are definitely wrong.

For the record, nobody from Millersville said anything about "coulda, shoulda, woulda" beating Etown. Etown is a tough team without a doubt, but Ville looks at that meet as a speed workout. Hats off to Etown for posting good times, but either way, the Battle of the Buggy is not a big deal at all. Also...there's no such thing as a workout that's harder than a race. If you workout harder than you race there's something wrong. I'm sure Etown doesn't workout harder than they race. No team does.

I think what milesoftrials needs to realize here is that Millersville is not talking themselves up or downplaying Etown's win. All they are doing is defending themselves from a rude frontal attack on their team strength from "Div III vs. Div II". The fan who wrote that is the one who started this, not Millersville. I agree that if you lose, you can't get up and insult the guy who beat you. But, what are you to do when the guy who beats you gets in your face and calls you a pussy? You don't lie down and take it. No one does, and no one should. Think about what you say before you say it, milesoftrials, and realize that in Millersville's situation you would do and say the same damn things. Further, I don't know Etown's training methods prior to or after the Battle of the Buggy, but I can speak from experience as to Millersville's training methods and as all the Millersville athletes so far have said, our team does not begin to gear up for hard racing until late October. We do, in fact, use this race as a speed workout, since the overall significance of a 6 K in a season of 8 and 10 K's is weak at best. I would congratulate both Etown and Millersville on good races and good national rankings, and say leave the trashtalking at home. There's no place for it in collegiate cross country. Leave the petty crap back in high school where it belongs.
Sville isn't that good. Anybody can run fast at the start of the season. But it takes balls to run fast at the end of the season. To find out if Ville has balls check last years results.
Berdan has been injured to my knowledge, I'm not sure if He'll be ready to go by end of the season or not.
One of E-towns top 7 runners was recently seen the weekend before battle of the buggy doing his "harder than a race workout" at a drinking party sat night.

Etown ran a solid race and they beat us and thats that. We arnt making excuses as to why we got beat, but defending the trash talk thats focused directly at millersville. For everyone whos writing nothing but trash badmouthing other teams, at least have the dignity to put your name behinf what your saying instead of hiding behind little pet screen names. If your gonna badmouth somebody put your name behind it and show some kind of class.
