Who'd a thunk it?
Who'd a thunk it?
Drew Eckman has some explaining to do since he is the normal defender of all things Kenyan.
"Kipngok's agent, Drew Eckman, said that a birth certificate and a passport had been provided to USATF as proof of the 1960 birthdate."
It's remarkable that the Kenyans always seem to place themselves in a most favorable position when it comes to age which cannot be verified.
They are seemingly younger than anyone has a right to believe for college entrance and Jr. competition yet suddenly have their age advanced for master's competition.
There's another issue in the Northeast with a **master**
from Kenya.
I'm sure Boaz will be attempting to run masters events in a couple of years. He may be closer to the truth in that case.
It's all about money.
Couldn't load the page (?) ....but for 3 months I have wondered how I could be older than Kipngok when he whipped my butt in the 1994 BAA Boston Marathon but younger than him when he whipped my butt at the 2002 President's Cup Night Race 5k. Does the Kenyan equivalent of the US State Department (which issues passports) operate like movies that have adults shown thinking about their teenage years, and then there's a flashback scene with the same actors playing their younger selves?
Fact is, lots of runners from developing nations will do absolutely anything to make a buck. Bogus birthdates, drugs, nothing should surprise us.
Malmo,
The link you used has expired. For that very reason we started link to their printer friendly pages and were then threatened with a lawsuit.
Here it is:

Maybe they would provide bogus dates of birth for $$$...but they would not...could not...never...ever...take any banned substances....
Wejo, it was probably MY post on Letsrun, immediatly after the race, that alerted those dunderheads to the issue.
What would you say are the odds that they uncovered it themselves?

Kenyans are afraid of needles.
