I was reading joe's book and there is a table on page 152 that shows mileage for emerging marathoners. My question is what do you guys think of this schedule. I copied it exactly from his book. I was thinking about doing this but for track. What do you guys think?

Just assume I can handle the jumps, so leave out the you'll get injured parts. And I have been running about 50mpw all winter but want to get back to big miles again and thought this looks like an interesting plan to try. The most I have done is 120mpw so I know I can go that high. Thanks.
Why would you copy that or any plan written in a book? If you want to build up your mileage, go ahead but listen to your body and go at a level you can handle.

You used to be able to get them from the Adams State bookstore when you couldn't find them anywhere else. I haven't checked in a couple of years, but you might try calling there if your really want one.

Yeah thats in the book and is for the more expirienced marathoners. I was just looking at this one its kinda of intermediate.
Also to get the book you send Joe a letter with your address. I can't find the page with his address. It used to be under a review of his book on amazon but it looks like its gone.

Am an aspiring 'thon runner and found this. The issue w/the address and having the book sent to you is fixable as the review is still there.

Always found people planning out mileage weeks ahead of time as stupid. Listen to your body. Be consistent. Some weeks you'll run more. Other weeks not so much. Week of your goal race, cut a bit back on volume. Look at Bill Rodgers training log as a excellent example of what I'm talking about.

Nothing wrong with making out a training plan. If you are feeling worn down you probably needed a recovery week a few weeeks prior. I see no harm with this as long as you are flexible and willing to adjust on the fly.

No one should follow Vigil's training. It's just a book and a lot of story's he tells. I heard Vigil telling people five guys broke 4 minutes in the mile in the middle of a workout at practice (at 7500ft).
If you actually believe that , then you should follow his training I guess.
