zoom miler xc
the new vents look pretty good. and i loved the old ones. and what about the new nike montreals? kind of like a modified miler type look. they could have potential
The montreal's look OK... They are really just a minor update to the [really] old Zoom Shift's. The Shay's seem pretty nice, as do the Ventulus 2's. I've got to admit tho, the spike world has been really disappointing recently. Since the release of the Zoom Miler, there have been no really good new spikes (just re-hashes on old ones), with the exception of Asics new lineup 2 years ago that never really caught on (Japan Lightning, Turbo Phantom, etc).
LOL @ whoever suggested the Miler XCs... that waffle plate is wretched, even compared to the old waffle plate. Miler uppers on a Ken XC plate... now we might be talking. The miler upper is so good, and to waste it on such an awful spike plate seems wrong in so many ways.
The new vents are sick! Im lucky enough to have a pair of the new jasaris and i think a lot of people will like them!
Flats: Adidas AdiZero RC DC or PRO
Really light flats: Adidas AdiZero PR
Anyone seen the new adidas Boston LD?
7 oz. seems really heavy, especially for a distance spike. Hard to imagine anything that beastly being competitive (at that $80 price range), especially when there are great options in the 4.5-5.5 range.
Yeah, I've seen them on-line too. But has anyone actually examined a pair or tried them out?
Yeah, we carry them in our store... I'm really not impressed that much. As far as I am concerned, the last good spike adidas made was the adistar md/ld/lightsprint from about 6ish years ago. BUT, spikes are such a personal feel that you might love them. I would probably recommend billy boys list over them (esp those 1005's... those are great) just based on that numbers, but there is so much else to spikes that there is just no substitute for trying them out yourself.
To add to that list of spikes, the puma harambees are also much better value (OK, they're 5.6 oz, but still...)
Are adidas not bringing out a new version of the ld? What were the black ones being worn by Cragg on the track at Worlds?
Has anybody tried the Asics Pirannah's? They look sweet, but I've never seen anybody wear them.

I want to say I've seen a picture Ryan Hall doing speed work in them.
I do Workouts in the Pirannah's and the are great. Very light but still have a great feel in the mid-foot.
one of my athletes has an un-used pair of the Montreal wear-test spikes. he wore them today for some strides (first time used, so i guess they're not un-used anymore) and they look a lot better than the pictures show.
they are an excellent practice spike, but i doubt he'll use them in races. he has the vent 2's on order, and he'll probably get the Sawa's when they arrive in July. the sawas are going to blow everything that's in right now out of the water!
adidas spikes are in a little bit of a reinvention stage right now.
XC - amazing spikes coming out in fall. $90 Belligerence is as good a spike as I've ever seen. $60 RLH is a really good price point spike, this spike will compete with any spike from anyone else.
Track - I think the Boston is the only new spike for this spring as far as distance goes but look for some great spikes next spring. You'll probably see some new spikes on our athletes at The Games and then see those spikes roll out for the following track season. There should be some really exciting things going on with adidas in this arena in the near future.
adizero racing flat family is the best grouping of flats out there right now hands down.
The NB 1005, to me, is the best distance spike for track available right now but I'm curious to see that ventulus 2. In my opinion the first ventulus is the best distance spike ever made.
Absolutely Adizero range is feet and ankles above the rest. For some blasts from the shoe past someone on this message boeard posted this http://runflux.wordpress.com/2008/01/14/the-top-ten-best-running-shoes-of-all-time/
Just saw the new nike brochure for fall 08- the new victory spikes look pretty good: http://www.niketeam.com/v2/new/PDF/HO08_4_Team_Mens_Track.pdf
