Spirituality and pessimism aside, SEH led a pretty great life, and helped motivate generations of climbers. It needs to be remembered several expeditions came close to the summit of Mt. Everest over the previous decades, but he & Tenzing Norgay capped it off.
Will be remembered as a great Mountaineer but perhaps more so as a Humanitarian.
