I am not sure, maybe. When I was a bit younger I could throw down pretty nice but right now I'm not in good shape. I think if I had a big incentive I might could. Maybe by summertime if I get in shape I'll be back to it.

i can throw down if i have a good toss to oop i am 6 foot 4 165 punds and run 16:50 5k and 4:45 mile
Agree with XY, played high school ball then ran, and very few people in high school could dunk and very few runners I know personally can go sub 15 5k so i find it very rare for both. Not to mention the whole whiteness thing which most people on this board are, not many white guys at 5'10" can dunk let alone a white guy that is 5'10' and a distance runner.
Threw down when I was a 10:00 guy in hs, had a good vert and was 6'1. No longer have a good vert and can run sub 70 in the half. 10 feet with a ball isn't as hard as you think it is, with a decent amount of leaping ability a lightweight person can get up.

I would posit to say the number of runners you "know personally" pales greatly to the sheer number of people who frequent letsrun. Just because I don't personally know anyone who has run sub-14 for 5k doesn't mean there aren't people here who have (in fact there are quite a few). You are looking at a sample of literally 10's of thousands, given it's a running board you are going to find a fair number of fast people, and some of those fast people are bound to be tall, and among those some are going to have decent ups. Just like there are bound to be fast people who are amazing backgammon players, soccer players, violinists, research scientists, entrepreneurs, there are bound to be a few that can dunk. Hell I have played in pickup games where the majority of people could dunk. Dunking a basketball is about as impressive as running a 17 minute 5k (for a guy), perhaps less so. How many kids in your high school could do each?
Given that the vast majority of posters here are high schoolers, who don't have a whole lot of running years on their legs, I can see a number of guys at least 5'10" being able to dunk or get close.
I had a teammate in HS that was no more than 5'10" but athletic. He could dunk a tennis ball and grab the rim but not exactly dunk a basketball. If you can't get your palm above the rim you ain't exactly dunking. He ran a 4:28 mile and 2:00 800m off minimal training. Athletic.
