I've recently had a change of heart. Athletes from other countries who come over to America always talk about the mandatory military service they have to go through in their native countries. I believe this helps build patriotism and nationalism, not to mention i still view it as a honor to say that i have served my country ... I've always been against war, hate it, but i feel the need to join the armed forces for a short amount of time. The thing with this is, if i decide to do it i want to be the best...from everyone i have spoken to, they refer to the Navy SEALS as the elite of all armed force branches. ... does anyone have any advice, stories, or just wants to add their 2 cents feel free to let me know ...
I'm 23 years old and am considering enlisting in January 2009. i believe the contract is for 4 years....2 years training and 2 years of operations .... i don't intend to serve longer than that ... just enough to say i proudly served my country and i was part of the most elite group in the world. ... are their any SEALS out there who can reply? I know the physical attributes are grueling and demanding... but honestly, I've been through some hellish workouts in xc and track and doubt that they could be much superior to those ... ex. 5 mile run followed by 20x400 at 63-66 with 90 sec. rest followed by 10 mile run at 6'10 pace ...
not the most difficult i know, but still pretty damn tough in my mind. ...
I'm probably just thinking out loud, but my mom is totally against this idea and any input is greatly appreciated...
thanks in advance to all who reply.
