i'm just curious to see what i could possibly run the marathon in if i trained for it. my prs are 4:18 for the 1600 meters, 9:29 for 3200, and 16:03 for 5k cross country.
thanks in advance to the serious posts.

No.
2:30ish, but you never know until you try.
There are estimations, but they are for what you're surrently capable of with marathon training, not what you are capable of right this second. Most people will tell you that a person 16:00 5K can run a 2:40 ish marathon with marathon specific training. That is, months and months of training for a marathon. Even then, alot of first time marathoners run alot slower than predicted because of the length of the race taking a toll on those who haven't expirienced 26.2 miles racing before.
looking at your times, your 5k time is slow for somebody who is running a 4:18 mile, so it looks like you're stronger in the middle distances and have problems handling longer distances therefore i wouldn't predict a good time for you in the marathon. Any guess would be a shot in the dark (finishing would be your biggest concern) so for fun i'll say 2:50. You also could just use google and find the points systems that everyone else uses to predict times.

this guys says what i would guess....but you would need to up your mileage to 100 mpw and do a 20 miler on the weekend for about 2 months prior to goal race....you might run in the high 220s if you put in the mileag.
No.
Divide by 3.1 and then multiply by 26.2.

Sweet, that prediction tells me I should run a 2:00 marathon. World record here I come!
Multiply by 10. That would give you a 2:40 +/- 10 minutes.

Don't ever listen to an idiot about LDR that thinks this way. These are the same people that multiply your 1/2 marathon time by 2 to get your marathon time.

And don't ever listen to an idiot that can't see that the earlier poster was just being a jackass, giving a purposely stupid answer to a stupid question.
