Question for jtupper, or for anybody else who's really in the know.
I'm having a friendly debate with some people about the importance of pace on easy days. One guy, let's call him the group idiot, says it doesn't matter, generally, how slowly you go on your easy days, since the purpose of easy days isn't to make you faster, but rather to support the aerobic developments that support the faster training that make you race faster.
In the opposite corner, we have a couple of guys referring to Daniels' charts and suggesting that one must run within Daniels' E pace range to get any benefit from an easy day.
I think I recall jtupper saying on here that his E pace is just a guide, and it's OK to run slower. Is it also OK to run faster?
jtupper, if you check in, could you maybe clarify what science lies behind the faster and slower bounds of your E pace? Personally, I can see the faster end being an important upper bound, but I tend to side with our group idiot, and think maybe the slower bound is less important. What say you?
