Some race day photos, but not clear where on the course this would be (5.5km?) Mark's in two of them. Note the crazy water bottle decorations.

Nobby,
Slap on the xc skis and go for it. Lydiard training is excellent for nordic xc, I prefer classic over skate. Let us know when you are presenting out in the So Cal area again.
Nobby & Zatopek, thanks to you both for the excellent race updates, I enjoyed reading through the comments for the race.
Nobby, I see that Lorraine's book "On the Wings of Mercury" is available. Have you seen it yet?
Also, the Henry Rono book, "Olympic Dream" is also available. I ordered a copy , but have not received it yet.
Lorraine's book is very good. Henry's is too. If you get Lorraine's you should get a copy from New Zealand. I've heard the US version is heavile edited.
Thanks very much, I will try to purchase a copy from NZ. Also, I hope Nobby replies as he may be able to confirm that the US edition is not as good.
I took part in the race as an "average Joe" and I must report you that is by far the best marathon I ever took part.
We are far away from the "commercial carnivals" that has become NYC, London, etc.
It is a pure running event, totally focused on athletes and their performances ...
And crowd support is unbelievable: all the 26 Miles lined-up with spectators
Last: I remember a thread sometime ago discussing about the depth of Japanese running movement ... well, it is devastating. They have hundreds of runners who can run sub2h45 and 2h30' even Masters over 50 ...
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
