This fall course records have been falling all over the country. The guys who will be coming together at Balboa Park in San Diego in 2 weeks time will be bringing some amazing credentials with them. I am looking forward to this as much as I was when Ritz, Webb and Hall ran together a few years back. Track is back!

How much of an affect would weather have on this race?
The race is still 2 weeks away and some of the kids who quailified have to go home for two weeks and cont. training in places that already have 6 inches of snow and horrible cold weather, where as others have nice training weather.
Does this play a roll in two weeks?

If San Diego is warmer than 60 I think it will put kids who have been running in freezing temps at a slight disadvantage. I don't bad weather will hurt their training too much though
How do you know Puskedra and Fernandez are going to make it to San Diego? They still haven't run the regional and we know that anything can happen there.
Right you are my friend. But the big favorites have made it out of the west regional for many years running. But you are correct that anything can happen.

Fernandez just broke the CIF course record by more than 14 seconds, running a 14:24. He\'s on a roll. My money is on the Riverbank runner
If you don't know who German Fernandez (from Riverbank, Calif.), then you haven't followed x-c. Although he runs in D4, he blew everybody away with a 14:24. The D1 runner didn't even break 15 today in Fresno. Pull your head out of your you know what.
Whatev, I follow xc plenty. I've never seen any of these names before today.
puskedra broke josh rohantinsky's (former ncaa champion, 4 time state champion, 3 time foot locker finalist) state meet record by over 15 seconds while running in muddy conditions. You obviously don't follow hs xc.
Oh, no I sure don't have much of any interest in high school stuff.

How much is all the races without much going to hurt some of the top guys? I know by time the final race for Footlocker Derrick will have raced hard 5 of the last 6 weeks. Today might have been his easies, but I don't think 15:01 at Parkside can be called easy. And I don't see him giving anything less than his best next week.
Donn Cabral was a stud at FL NE, 15:09 to break the meet record and a second off McDougal's all-time 5k prep course record.
Does anyone who really pays attention to the results not notice that the record German Fernandez broke today was not only the course record by 14 seconds but that the record he broke was by Marc Davis...eventual Nationals winner?
You've got to be kidding if you think anyone BUT Fernandez has a chance of winning at FLN. Seriously, we, in California, are not just picking German because of a California bias; he is literally amazing to watch and there is no way he will not win by more than 20 seconds at San Diego.

chris derrick ran 1352 on the illinois state course which is at least equal to if not better than craig virgin's 1349 which was .03 miles shorter. virgin was every bit the runner davis was if not better in his own right. its going to be a great race for sure but no one is running away with it by 20 seconds.
