Ok, for bit of laughter to break up the hard-to-fathom mixture of joy and sadness from yesterday [the atmosphere of the crowd in the Park was awesome yet now that enthusiasm seems so odd]
Now that Hall, Ritz and Sell ran so well, what do you think they'll have to do to train for the environment in Beijing (especially the air quality). Here are a few ideas:
1) run all weekend LSD runs directly behind a bus (and not any of those hyrdogen or hyrbid ones, that's cheeatin'!)
2) the heck with Mammoth Lakes for training, move to Gary, Indiana
3) practice holding breath for 2 hours and 9 minutes while running at 4:35-5 minute pace
4)take up smoking in a sauna after workouts
5)have coach hand a bottle of gatorade AND a giant stogie to smoke every 3 miles during tempo runs
6)fartlek sessions through a coal refinery!
7)take up chimney sweeping in spare time
8)sign a new sponsor....Kingsford charcoal briquettes!
9)practice running low to the ground, like hands and knees low
10) the ultimate weapon against bad air - Nike swooshed, TEAM USA Darth Vader masks!
Congratulations to all three (and to KK and Dan Brown as well) for running such inspiring races
