Recently, I'm coming off an injury and have been trying to simply get consistent and healthy. However, my L IT band has been driving me a little nuts.
To address the issue I've stretched 1-2 per day (specific, passive stretches in the IT band), cut back on training volume, cross trained (swimming mostly, with occassional biking), and doing specific strength work in the weight room 3x per week. Moreover, after getting the massaged, I found out I am having pronation issues and got some firmer, stability shoes.
However, despite this, when I simply try to jog for 30-40:00, my IT has been tightening. Past couple days, I stopped jogging once the area got really *tight*. I've been running on golf course or relatively flat roads.
Then, when I go to swim, I still get tightness in the region???
Nothing is uberpainful, but I want to get this injury licked--any other suggestions? Should I stop running all together? Normally, I'm a 70-85 mpw guy, so 20-30 miles a week seems to be a huge cutback.
Any help appreciated.
