Couldn't agree with you more on your last paragraph here, but I adamantly disagree that he, as a public figure and an icon for the city, shouldn't be held to a higher standard or, at least, know he is going to be held to a higher standard. As for the rest of your diatribe, well, it is underwhelming. Huge difference between someone like you or me being a fan of an opposing team in a state we never lived in and flaunting it (which would not be well received by the local fans as it is) and LeBron "King" James sporting it for all to see in his hometown.
Just not a fair comparison, and I'm surprised to see you try to make your point that way. Yes, I am actually a Laker fan, but I sure as hell don't play for the Nuggets, nor would I flaunt it anyway. And you won't see any Nuggets fans wearing Philly gear tomorrow, that's for sure. All athletes in Colorado, despite mostly not being from here, are currently under scrutiny in the media, and they are all publicly supporting the Rockies, because it is CLASSY and the RIGHT thing to do. Now, if after the playoffs are over, they resort to wearing a different teams' gear, then no one is going to care.
