I feel all important because USATF decided to give me a vote for the Jesse Owens Award which honors the top US track and field athletes. I think the women's award winner is pretty straightforward (Allyson Felix) but for the men I can see an argument to be made for Tyson Gay or Bernard Lagat. What do you think? I might just put a poll up.
The Jesse Owens Award was established in 1981 as a tribute to the man whose accomplishments are forever enshrined in sports history. It is USA Track & Field’s highest accolade, and is presented annually to the individuals selected through a nominating and voting procedure as the outstanding American performers of the year in Athletics.
