Mr. "this was my living hell": I have Crohn's. I ran a 2:38 marathon a few years after spending two weeks in the hospital with a severe flare up. Since then, however, I've had ups and downs (currently on a down). Would you mind posting what natural remedies worked for you?
epberlin,
I use fish oil primarily for its anti-inflammatory properties (4-5 capsules per day), and natural green supplements such as barley grass and chlorella (1 glass of either per day mixed with water generally). Occasionally I'll use kelp/seaweed as a general health supplement also.
Diet is also crucial - I believe in maintaining an alkaline pH - if you research acid-alkaline balance and diet you should find plenty. Basically a lot of fruit and veg (preferably raw and organic) and minimal highly acidic foods will help achieve this.
I'm not a health professional or anything and can't make any promises or guarantees, but this sure has worked for me. I don't personally believe in western medicine/treatments; at the same time there are certainly some dodgy alternative dr's out there!
Hope you start feeling better soon. Congrats on your marathon time too, that is a good time for anyone to achieve let alone coming back from the bastard that is CD.
Best wishes
