Well, I wasn't injured, but I had an highly erratic and elevated heart rate, and the doctors made me take 4 motnhs off of any physical activity with the exception of some light walking. But the two motnhs previous to that I was on restrcited activity and could run about 40 miles a week. So basically its been 6 months since I have run seriously.
I'm finally cleared to run again and I am really struggling to get back into it. It was frustrating when this stuff happened as I was planning on making an effort to qualify for the trials in the marathon (I ran a 2:24 in the first one). So I have done the constant 100+ mile weeks and really hard training.
Since being cleared a week ago, I am struggling to even to want to run. As soon as I start, I just want to stop. Its not fun, I don't enjoy it, even running a mile feels like a chore. I have never had a serious injury. The longest I have gone without running since college is the occassional 3-5 days off due to minor injuries. Is this something that everyone struggles with after a long lay off?
Its really causing me some distress, as all I did when I couldn't run was think about how great it would be to run again, now I almost can't imagine enjoying running again.
