Tie those tubes already! If they want more kids, they should adopt. Are their genes so special that the world needs so many of them???
Why does that bother you? It's not what I would do, but these folks can afford it (i.e., they aren't on public assistance) and apparently love having kids. More power to 'em.

Isn't it obvious?
They should have killed these kids in the womb.
Killing the babies is much more ethical than birthing them, loving them, supporting them and being happy.
No, in all seriousness, if they want that many kids, it would have been better had they adopted. There are a lot of babies out there in need of adoption, and it would have been a noble thing.
That being said, you could say the same for any parents, so whatever.
Adoption is not as easy as that, especially for people as fertile as these.
Adoption = 20k per kid
That's a big upfront expense, considering the kid won't be a productive worker until they are at least 10 years old.
But I guess if you bought a 10 year old, you could put them to work right away.
holy crap! i thought adopted kids were free
They wer 1/2 way crucified.
Groucho Marx to guest on "You Bet Your Life": Nineteen children??? Whatever possessed you to have nineteen children?
Guest: Oh, I don't know. I guess I just love having children.
Groucho: Well I love my cigar, but I take it out of my mouth every now and then.

Just because someone loves doing something doesn't make it right. I don't think they are evil or anything, but there is something a little off when someone has 17 children and talks of wanting more. Pretty sure they are glad that not every couple in the US over the last 200 years had 17 children with more on the way. There'd be no where to live. So pretty much they are saying that while they wouldn't want everyone else to do it, that they are special and they should do it. Like it or not, but having that many children definitely rubs most people the wrong way. As has already been mentioned, there are lots of kids who wouldn't mind being adopted out there. Wanting your own genes propogated like that smacks of egotism or idiocy or something. Hopefully their kids won't want that many kids.
Why also am I not surprised that the children are home schooled and that the wife thanked God for the many blessings? I think pretty much that when two fertile people go at it without protection that pregnancy will result.
Rightfully or wrongly, I just can't respect any person in today's society that would willingly have 17 children and want more.
I think it's disturbing that they have a TV show. If they want 17 kids and can afford them, that's their business. Sure, I think there are better things they could have done like adopting, but I wouldn't try to force my beliefs on them as long as they can provide for their children. But if your most important values were to create a loving atmosphere for those children and raise them in the best way possible, why would you parade them on TV like a freak show?
I don't have sympathy for anyone who turns their children into a reality show. We all know that exposing your children to the media is the best way to ensure they'll be stable adults.

should read:
Guest: Oh, I don't know. I love my husband!
(the cigar comment makes much more sense in the correct context)

Didn't say you have to respect these people. Not really sure why it would bother anyone, though. It's their lives, no one else's. Different strokes for different folks, man.
Kind of like me and my 17 kids, but from different women. I decided to raise an army of perfect humans. Actually only half perfect because I had to find a surrogate mother for each child.
As the third of ten kids, in short, you're a moron. Who's talking about respect. So everyone should have 2.5 children just because it's society's norm. As an adult, I absolutely love being part of a very close, loving family.If it bothers you that someone has a lot of kids, the problem is most assuredly with you.
With about 30-35 years of reproductive lifethe average woman should have about 45 or so kids counting for twins.So as a nation we are under achievers in this department,
Source(s):
The highest officially recorded number of children born to one mother is 69, to the first wife of Feodor Vassilyev (1707-1782) of Shuya, Russia. Between 1725 and 1765, in a total of 27 confinements, she gave birth to 16 pairs of twins, seven sets of triplets, and four sets of quadruplets. 67 of them survived infancy
Please note this is just Feodor's first wife 's total and everyone of her birthings was multiple..
Dude, weak...
I've seen those people on TV and they are F-R-E-A-K-S! Look at what they make their kids wear and how they act...it is creepy--like teh creepiest of creepy mormon people would be all "Wow, those people are weird!"
Serioulsy though, they should die.
My problem with people having kids is that the usually the people who have many kids are low class idiots who aren't capable of raising a single child properly.
My next door neighbor is 32 years old and has five kids, three ex-wives, and a girlfriend.
1) I didn't say anything about people needing to have 2.5 kids.
2) You're one of 10 -- while that's a big family, it isn't 17 kids with the 40-year-old mother saying she wants more. Your situation isn't remotely close to theirs.
3) I also never said it "bothered" me, only that I can't have a lot of respect for someone who has 17 kids and wants more.
