Ok Mayeroff, sure. As a serious response though, I would really like to see Lagat double at worlds. If he and Teg were both in the final that would be great. plus, if he is in the final of the 5,000 the US will have a shot at gold in the 1500 (Webb) and the 5,000 (Lagat). Lets not forget he closed a 12:59 5k in 51 seconds beating Bekele in the process. The way I see the distance events at Osaks is like this:
800- No chance of a US medal unless KD or Symmonds have the race of their lives.
1500- Chance for at least one medal. wouldnt be suprised at all if Lagat and Webb both walked away with one. If I had to pick one though I would pick Webb for the silver at the very least. Manzano more than likely wont make it out of the heats, but thats ok, he has plenty of time for more WC and Olympics.
5,000- Lagat can win. The only way I see Lagat not being a real threat is if the winning time is 12:50 or faster, which more than likely wont happen. what was the 2003 winning time, like 12:52? Either way, we all know he can close fast off a slow pace and he can clearly run an incredible last lap in a sub 13 race (last year vs. Bekele). Teg has the ability to make the final. If (when) he does, I can see him running well, 6th-7th-ish.
Lagat will not double; 1500 or 5000???
If he does not run the 5k is our team Teg, Riley, Moran???
Is Goucher hurt????
Imagine if 3 US 1500 meter runners made the finals.
well, while Lagat may not double, IMHO his best shot for a gold is in the 5,000. by far.
If Lagat is smart he will come to the realization that his best days in the 1500 are over and opt for the 5k this WC.
Nevertheless, if his training has been geared toward the 1500, he may stick with the 1500 and do the best that he can do (make the final and finish in the top 7-8). I think that he could finish in the top 5 in the 5k!!!! I also agree that he will not double (would be unwise).
In the last WC the event that came closest to earning a medal was the marathon. We finished 4th in the mens team. I hope that this crew can move up a spot.
Why is the U.S. one of the last countries to name our team?
I bet the US win as many medals as Bahrain.

Barringer is going to world's!
Au Contraire!
as usual the U.S. will wait until the last second; I am not sure when the deadline is (does anyone know)????
goucher has a fracture. he ran us nationals on it though so i wouldn't be surprised to see him do worlds on it as well.
I hope Adam and Ritz and Torres run well at Worlds. Afterall we were told in February that this was what they were skipping World Cross for.
Torres aint goin
UST&F was accepting times up to 1 Aug to determine who goes based on the AAA/AAB system vis a vis placement at Nationals.
