Who do you like in the mascot race?
lagat confortable at 2:38 with a lap to go
dang.. baddley just blew Lagat up
last 100.. lagat 3rd
I'll take Captain Blade at 4-1 for a dime.
Dang, I hope Lagat is just planning on peaking at WCs, because he hasn't been impressing much lately.
But then Lagat is a real pro, and may be doing just that.
Baddeley ROCKS!

this is so predictable...lagat runs insanely fast and gets olympic medals while representing kenya, then becomes american and starts to suck.....can you say Khannouchi!
What the hell happened to David Krummenacker?
past his prime, simple as that

Maybe being an American has cost him his protection/PC status. He knows that unlike in the past, officials will no longer look the other way every time he tests positive.
or he is past his prime......
When is the 3k and is this meet on TV?
Yea I am interested to see Mottram square off againt Bekele, yet I just don't think Bekele is in tip top form, but he is so talented he'll still throw down. I hope bekele gets his act together he is still really young. Not to mention Solinsky in the race hot off his 337 pb in the 15. Should be a good one.
Still no results from the mascot race. I heard there was a problem with the drug tests. Something about all the competitors using masking agents.
3k starts at 8.30pm
Lagat was leading by 2meters or so at the bell - he pulled away down the back straight then round the top bend Baddeley kicked in hard and passed Lagat with about 80metrea to go - silva did his usual fast finish to get past lagat.
I would be more worried about people running PRs too soon before the WC. Lagat still has time to peak when it counts in Osaka.
If someone like Webb, who is running PRs in early July, is in top form he will be in big trouble in August. You just can't hold your peak for 6 - 8 weeks, 3 - 4 weeks is more likely. If Lagat trained through this week and starts to really taper in preperation of the WC he should be fit and ready to go. Someone above said he may be past his prime. He is getting "older" and that is also a possibilty. Krum was at the top of his game a few years ago and now he is just kind of holding on because he loves the sport and wants to keep fighting. You got to admire that.
At any rate, I hope Lagat is in the mix. We have made such a big deal about him becoming an American that I would hate to see him fizzle out shortly there after. Besides, he seems pretty pumped up about becoming a citizen too, so he may have something to prove. I have seen many people level off at the end of a tough stretch of training and then when they taper back and get ready, they drop a good chunk of time in a 1500m.
