I've run it 3 times. It's a great race. A low 25 will be competitive for the win.
I ran it a couple times a few years ago, and if I remember correctly, a low 25 will not win it.... more like low 24 if I remember (Kezes?)
just off the top of my head, 25:18 won it in 2004
I ran it some years back. Leave home way, way earlier than you think you need to so you can grab one of the 3 parking places in Seattle. My car was also broken into that night. I haven't been back.
i ran the race last year. i believe about 24:30 won it, with about 10 guys under 25:30.
The only time I ran it the winning times were in the 23's. I ran 26 low and was something like 50th. It is a great race and a good fast course. If it is the same course as the mid 90s the last 2 miles are slightly downhill. Overall there is no net elevation change and there are no big uphills in there...
wow, even faster than i thought then eh
great race. I ran a slower year (2004)and ran something 26:36 for 9th. TV coverage is good and the streets are lined with tons of people who add to the atmosphere.

Dan Welsh, that name is too familiar.....
are you the Army guy who ran the bank to bay in 2004???
yeah, I was in horrible shape for the 2004 Bank to Bay. after the Seafair race I goofed off and rested up before I headed to Iraq.
How do you guys rate the Bank to Bay as far as being a good place to set a 10k PR? Is there a better certified 10k in the Seattle area?
I ran Bank to Bay but didn't give it a hard effort and was injured when I ran it. It seemed like it might be a good place to set a PR. I set my PR at Monroe Fair Days 10k many years ago and am taking another crack at it (not this year though)...is Bank to Bay the place to do it?

aah you were my unfortunate victim that day... but I knew you had a bad race so i didn't get a big head over it. i did get the free shoes though
Dude, you must be talking about the 5K. I have always wondered who you are, and now I figured it out. Brian Gates of Gig Harbor.
As for the PR question above, I would say that the course is not the best for a PR unless your strength is really good. The series of hills in the second half can slow the pace a lot. Comp typically not extremely deep.
Torchlight is a solid race. Generally really hot in the evening, particularly up on the viaduct. The results posted are from a SLOW year. Check archives for a better representation.

I did the Bank to Bay 10k once and didn't die at all on the closing hills (though I was slowed by them) but I was very strong that year (but had just gotten injured so I kind of did it like a hard tempo). I'm wondering - if you think that the hills slow the course down - how much slower you think it is versus a flat, fast, legal course (or the track for that matter). Also, is there such a course in the Seattle area?

Hard to compare Bank to Bay to Bay to a dead flat course/track. I think it may be easier to run B2B than Fall City Days, for example, and that course is a pancake. Miguel Galeana ran a solid time there back in 2002 (?) when he was prepping for Chicago.
I have never been, but every body seems to fly at the Issaquah Rotary Run in October (http://www.ontherunevents.com/results/1290.htm). It seems like that might be the fall race to target for a PR. If you are willing to travel, the Vancouver Sun Run is also a PR-type course. There really aren't a wealth of fast 10K races around in the NW, on account of the courses and frequent lack of competitive fields to push people to times.
Hey Brian Gates, maybe you could break 16 minutes if you stopped smoking so much dope!! How many joints = the value of the free shoes?1 GATES, BRIAN GIG HARBOR WA 21 M 16:55 5:27 M2024 1 / 12 1 / 282 Just like Chris Hall - you have been EXPOSED!!HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
