I know there's a bunch of debate about the merits of Man v. Wild. Here's a video that's pretty hilarious. Grylls pisses in his canteen then takes a few swigs of his own piss.
I don't give a damn what people say, I wouldn't mess with Grylls. You have to give him some credit for being completely insane.
There is an episode of Man vs. Wild where he is stranded in the African Savanna. Needing water, he finds some fresh elephant dung and squeezes the water out of it straight into his mouth. It also was quite shocking to see. The guy is definitely hardcore. Wish I had his survival skills and lack of fear.

what about the camera men? it can't be too hard if they are following him around with cameras on their backs
ive always wondered that, and they get great shots or what he is doing. Also...when they are stuck having to climb down a mountain, the camera men have to go down there too. They obvoiously have to be pretty good "survivormen" in their own right. Anybody have any info on the cameramen themselves?
If you'll notice, Bear isn't the "survival expert" listed in the closing credits.
I like Bear and the show, but IMO it is the "Jackass" of survival shows. I believe there are much easier ways to survive the situations he encounters, but he tries to do dramatic things for the show.
I believe there is an episode where he is floating in an Alaskan river using his clothes, but many viewers recall seeing him wear a life jacket under his shirt that the show does not make mention of.
on a lot on the tricky descents and swimming sections he films himself much like les stroud the survivorman. On other occasions i would guess they have ropes and proper climbing equipment.
