Does anyone know where you can buy a Ice Bath?
Does anyone know where you can buy a Ice Bath?
You just put ice in your bathtub. Just buy ice.
It doesn't have to even be ice. Run a tub of cold water. The idea is to restrict capillaries. You don't have to freeze them to get some major benefits.
my training group just jump into an old clean garbage bin filled with water and ice after a hard training session for 5 mins!
I have found a large trash can works very well.....the plastic kind...make ice with your ice maker..store in bags so you have enough..change the water weekly or so...you can even get a thermometer if you want to get more exact (around 50 degrees)...or you can spend $3000.00 on an metal low boy whirlpool :)

How much ice needs to be used to get the water to 50 degrees? I'm sure it depends on the time of year and the temperature of the tap water, but is an entire bag necessary for one bathtub full of water?
In a bathtub? One bag would do fine. In a tall trash can that you would stand in, it takes two bags if the water/can sits outside...a bag and half if inside.
The trash can version...this isn't a really tall one..if you are a tall guy, you would probably want a larger one than this.
Bathtub version :)

I think I had the largest problem with your first link....um, what does that guy have in his mouth? I just grossed myself out and my keyboard smells like vomit
Would like to use this with a high school team. Is this sanitary?
I don’t want kids to jump into a trashcan and share germs.
Any idea how to keep the water clean?
Well, if people are going to share the trash can, I would suggest changing the water daily. It isn't like a swimming pool where you can have chemicals and a filter...but it isn't that unsanitary...they aren't going to be doing anything (hopefully) in the water other than putting their legs in it.
Trash cans aren't that expensive, so if you have a large enough ice machine, you could purchase 3-4 cans.

Well, you could start by washing the trash can... :)
The training room at the school where I coach has some blue antibacterial stuff that we use a bit of whenever we fill the tub (sorry, haven't noticed what it is). Makes everything smell a little minty. You could do that. Otherwise, if you make sure you change the water every day or two things should be fine-- nobody's putting his head in the water, so I'm not even sure what germs you're concerned about. Nothing but a little sweat and dirt, I would think.
thought it was tough enough training every day 120mpw with hill, track, tempo and long 20 mile running sessions without the added pain of spending up to 10 mins after efforts suffering in a freezing cold bath!
Who says running is easy and not tough?
Isnt it hard enough pressure without this as well?
Why do we do it?
