ok, the U.S isn't one person.
Also, in that instance, I would have nuked Japan as well. Any sane Japanese would have nuked Japan. 3 million for 15 million or more.
But why did Truman want to use nuclear weapons? He knew what the effects, generally, would be. Some Business/Financial leaders did not want to use the weapon simply because keeping its effects hidden could allow them further leverage later. Its kind of like opening pandora's box, except they wanted to pick the time and place. Truman would have none of it. He blew it up so the world would know how bad Nukes were God Bless him, and has since saved millions of lives.
So what did these business/financial interests do? They gave it to Russia.
Of course, what happens? Truman leaves, enter Eisenhower, another great President. He specifically mentions these interests, the 'industrial-military complex' in speeches near the end of his term, basically he had lost control over non-government financial/business entities controlling the country via the IMC.
(note: the IMC and Business interests are very similar and can be used in this instance as a singularity)
Ok, here comes Nixon, in a bid to trump Kennedy, which the ICM pulled heavily for, I mean they pulled out the stops on Nixon in 1960. They wanted him in no matter what because he was extremely friendly to the ICM and Business interests. So Kennedy wins, and starts asking questions about the IMC that Eisenhower had raised, especially after the Cuban Missile Crisis, which was bound to happen after the crap the ICM pulled giving nukes to Russia in 1946-9. SO what happens when Kennedy demands where Billions are going and what these shadow programs are? He gets offed, Mafia style.
It gets blamed on a crazy, who turns out to be more talkity, then the crazy gets offed, the offer of the crazy gets killed in Prison.
and that is the history of America.
