Mo is an example of what happens when an athlete with African genetics has all the benefits of the UK system which has been developed over the last 10 years or so. He is not an example of a European athlete who has just had good back up/coaching etc... Mo knows that he is far more bankable and interesting if he is seen as somebody from Europe trying to break the East African domination in distance running, that is just common sense and he should milk it as much as he can.
However, what I am against is him being held up as a symbol of what UK athletics is doing right in terms of endurance. When we have a few athletes getting near times that caucasian Europeans from the UK ran in the 70's after spending time at St Marys/Loughborough etc... then I might start to believe in what they are doing a bit more.
If Mo has got the genes, physique,dedication and motivation etc imagine if he went to train with the ethiopians in africa for 6 months. Surely come back a world champion?
