I never write on this thing because I don't want to associate myself with you runner dorks who spend more time on this thing dreaming about jerking off Prefontaine then actually trying to get laid, (or people like "Jason does Asia" who is over 30 and still living this Olympic trials dream while bragging about sexual feats that anyone can achieve if they actually set foot in Bangkok) but occasionally I see some stuff that forces me to respond. Most of you guys don't know anything about running. If you see one US runner breakthrough and run 13:10 or 8:18 or so, you automatically assume he is ready to run sub 13:00 or 8:10 and debate about the new American record for days on end. But when a U.S. runner does actually run fast or competes well internationally, you would much rather talk about how fast Michael Johnson could run an 800m or who is on drugs when most of you will not admit you have no clue who is on drugs. This brings me to my point...
Anthony Famiglietti easily crushed the most competitive field of the US Championships and was ready for a breakthrough race before he came down with a stress fracture and ran a couple of mediocre 8.23 and 8.24 races in Stockholm and Monaco. He recovered and went back to Flagstaff to train at altitude before coming to Madrid for the World Cup. Here is a US runner who tried to win a international champioship race and led for 2k of the 3k race and there is no comment about that. All I hear is that he "fell apart" or "died" after running foolishly in the lead. Famiglietti has guts and he doesn't give a shit who is in the race. If all you weekend warriors were running the race, you probably would know all the P.R.'s of every runner in the race and would most likely get all of their autographs. Famiglietti is not like that. He is old school and just runs as hard as he can no matter who is in the race. Ofocurse he has bad races (World Champs), but he normally competes better in international events than our other US runners (World University Games last year in Beijing). I don't know why you chumps cannot realize that. Even Marc Davis (DOC) said that Famiglietti "does not have the fire in his eyes" or some bullshit like that. That couldn't be more wrong. And ofocurse Anthony proved him wrong at nationals. Why don't you guys quit bitching to each other and support upcoming young talent in our country. Or just find another hobby.
