who would win this alltime great matchup?
who would win this alltime great matchup?
It would be a tight one between Lagat and Kennedy. I say Kennedy for the win.

You kidding? No offense to Bob, but how many Golden League 5K's did he ever win? Lagat has beaten Bekele in a 5K. Bob got 6th in the Olympics.
what about pre. i tihnk it would be close between pre lagat and bk

Uh, no. Assuming all of them are fit, healthy, and in their prime... it's Lagat every time (and then again on Sunday).
This is stupid, why are Riley, Broe and Pre on this all time great matchup? Only two of those guys are even below 13 minutes for a 5k, what's so great about this matchup?

why maybe they can bust a move to try to stay with the pack.
why isn't teg on this list?
I would definetly keep pre on the list and take out broe and riley. Pre was like the Craig Mottram of his time, he was a rebel that at only the age of 21 placed 4th at the Olympics.
For his time he was more competitive than Bob Kennedy and at a pretty close tie with Lagat.
I still believe the Lagat should drop the 1500 and next year concentrate on the 5k as he has the best chance to medal or possibly win a gold in the 5k in Beijing rather than the 1500. He could medal in the 1500,but if he wants a gold the 5k is his best shot.
except Buster beat the best 5k runner in the world and broke 13

Well I don't see Buster going on the list, since he's not American. If he was I don't think there would be much of a discussion here.
Since he's not, Pre remains on the list because he wan an incredible amount of races, many of which it seemed like there was no way he could win. He was as competitive as Mottram at a time when world records were slower, tracks were slower, training methods were less sophisticated, and training equipment was less developed.
Obviously those guys would have been running faster in todays environment.

Who said they were all american runners .. lagat is on the list, isn't he?
F*** you jackass. Manzano, now there's a F***ing unamerican name, you want to F***ing rip on him too. Shut the F*** up with all of your F***ing bullshit you stupid prick.
I'm not saying that mottram should be on the list jackasses! All i'm doing is comparing him on a level of competitiveness to steve prefontaine. In that case buster would kick the shit ou of broe, riley, kennedy and maybe lagat as well. Pre is probably the most competitive internationally than all of the above runners, so he would have to win.

Only in a rabbitted overseas race, would I give BK a chance over Lagat. But even then, Lagat's run 12:59 with a :53 close.

What are you? 4 years old? Use some actually english, dno't just randomly place f*** all over your post. It doesn't make you sound meaner or anything, it makes you sound ignorant.
Where would Bob Kennedy be in this picture?
I know its a 1500...but same principle applies, Lagat now vs. BK perhaps would be a fair race, but if you are putting all runners in their prime, BK would get OWNED. Pre, while having balls really just couldnt compete. Broe just no.
You're all wrong, Todd Williams would run them all down.

Shouldn't Riley have to break 13:20 before he gets to be in an alltime great matchup?
actually think there's very little doubt that Lagat would win
