Last night on the ESPN broadcast they showed at least the last 4 laps of the women's 10,000 and the last ~6 laps of the men's 10,000. It was more than I expected.

The coverage was very good except for the "sideline" reporter, those questions were absurd.

Very displeased, no coverage in Cleveland, Ohio. Indians game instead. I am a Tribe fan but I really wanted to watch the finals...
Only four hours to Indy!!! I drive a couple hours to see all the Cavs games. Indy is a pretty close trip to see a once a year event.
Its funny you say that, I actually did attend the first three days of competition, however was unable to stay due to prior comitments. Sunday was the day I really wanted to see and planned to at least watch it on T.V. Oh well, still had a lot of fun at the meet itself. USATF did a great job (most notably the "stop underage drinking fun zone")
Coverage was pretty good, but I really wish they would do away with the post race interviews that immediately follow the race. They make the athletes sound stupid.
Typical Interview: "I felt good today (pant pant) and I am pant pant) happy (pant pant)."
Gerry, to be fair, they showed plenty of the 5000 on ESPN2 on Friday night.
NBC is incomplete was a total dud. 5 hours only when the meet was 65 hours long. This is a joke. Dyestat, Flowcats, and coaches has some videos too.

Seeing someone come down the final stretch in the 5000m is like kissing your sister.

of sister kissing or the race?
the race, mainly the 3000sc. it is very important i get it and i didn't have access to a tv or recorder at the time of the race
Some things potentially to make it more compelling / potentially add excitement / be more Internet-like ...
--Show where Top 3 are througout race since qualifying so essential. Have like a football 1st down line?
--For 800m+ races, show meters to go during race for average fan to know how far. Run down clock or something. Might make it more exciting.
--Show 400m split / predicted finishing pace. This can go in bottom or top of screen.
--Show top 3 names at top / bottom for longer races.
--When introduce, show PRs next to names so people have idea how fast people are coming in.
--Make it a bigger deal for Trials for qualifying. They made 2nd/3rd place seem like losers at times. Hey, big deal to make it! And ~ 2 months to go for training.
--Have some more personal bio / snippets prior to race of training or shoes or apparel / reaction time to starting gun ... like Tour de France does.
Just some thoughts to capture more fans and personalize the event more ... get names out there and more exposure.
I used to somehow like the man, but over the last 3 years now think Tom Hammonds is a horrible announcer for distance running. He seems to not really know the stories, the runners, how to pronounce names, etc. Makes a lot of mistakes- too many for a top notch broadcast. His self admitted lack of interest in distance catches up with him, so NBC should switch someone else in his seat for anything over 400m.
I thought it was much better as well but please no more Carol...even toned down she is at best irritating...the only thing I have a minor problem with is that they are not prepared for an upset or someone who is doing great...during the steeple there was very little mention of the others in the race only Dan and Fam...I didn't here about Slattery...and in the 1500 they didn't even tell who was all in the race...I know pretty minor but I would have loved to see all the race entries...they do it in the sprint races and i think they could go through the fields in the others...being a former steeple guy though I thought it was great they showed so much of it...
I don't understand why NBC is so fascinated with false starts when they are showing taped events.
ato was awesome

let's see, 5.5 billion people on the planet ... close your eyes NBC ... pick one.
I would love to see the powers that be put Toni Reavis in the mix...Tom Hammonds/Ato Bolden/Toni Reavis...now that would be a crew!
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
