Any of you attend one of them? Can you make a case for your HS if it's not listed?

i love the listing for JC from New Orleans, 380 students and i'd actually put them higher than #6. Louisiana all-star team.
ann arbor pioneer:
'06-'07 state champions: girls track and field, boys track and field, synchronized swimming, crew, boys tennis.
national champions in girls swimming at least 3 of the last 6 years.
'05-'06 state champions: synchronized swimming, boys tennis, boys swimming, girls track & field, field hockey and girls swimming.
never seen pioneer on the sports illustrated list and i'm always surprised. pioneer has won more state championships in the high school's history than any other high school in the united states.

I'd like to see definitive proof of that.
How can you talk about Southlake Carroll and not mention Colby Lowe, the distance star and state champ in the 1600?
Too bad Jesuit takes in talent from an area more than just the Portland-Metro Area. Students routinely drive more than half an hour to play sports at the school. At the junior high level coaches invite kids from all over to 'camps' and to encourage top players, especially basketball and football players, to come out for teams. And successful club soccer and swim teams end up funneling into the Jesuit programs. While it's private, I've heard from second hand sources that talented athletes receive 'need' based aid - but I'll admit I'm skeptical about such scholarships and are most likely just rumors. I welcome anyone to support or deny. Nonetheless, Jesuit is competitive in pretty much EVERY sport, and if they don't win a state title then they're finishing second and usually no worse than semifinals in tournaments. However while they're dominant in the state of Oregon, only a couple teams would ever be really competitive nation wide like cross country or football every once and a while.
Central Catholic is really similar in cross country in terms of recruiting, except that the hardcores from around the area who train with dedication and compete in the Junior Olympics all wanna be under Alberto.
I remember Marist (GA) being #11 of Sports Illsutrated's top HS programs a couple years ago.
They domminate at so many sports. Of course they recruit. I heard that the XC/TRACK coach gets to pick 2 boys and 2 girls every year to gain admission for free and run for them. Imagine what football gets. After hurricane Katrina, they got like 11 football players from NO.
Their XC team won state. Again. But they did not qualify ONE member of their track team for the state meet. That includes 800,1600,3200. mind boggling, i know.
But then again, they domminate.
Marist does NOT dominate like Parkview. We have won 3 consecutive state titles in xc....football and the other sportsl like baseball who used to win state all of the time are faltering though. if you look at the 2005 sports illustrated magazine Parkview was number 7 in the nation for sports.
I actually don't like these rankings. High school sports are important - because they provide an outlet and a sense of identity for so many kids. But really, some of these schools give off all sorts of vibes about being an athletic department with a school attached - and it just speaks to the wrong priorities. My older daughter - a fantastic student - and a very good runner now attending college on an academic scholarship (lucky for Dad) immensely enjoyed track but always felt strange about her high school's focus on sports - the country club type athletic banquet was the social event of the year - and the administration appeared to exalt athletic performance as the most important factor in the school. And just with Division 1 athletic programs, many athletes were catered to (ridiculously so) in a way that only will hurt them in the long run.
Don't get me wrong - I myself was on three state champion cross country teams, a state runner-up track team, and was close friends with members of our state champion football team - guys I respected and liked. But really, some of the attention on sports makes it easy to forget what school is really about.
You forgot to mention that AAP also recruits athletes from all over. First of all they recruited Sho Koba from Japan to come and swim for them. He won a state championship. Then they recruited sprinters from their cross town rival (Ann Arbor Huron). Chidi Uche, who won the 300 hurdles at track states actually switched schools... Pioneer sucks balls...

Parkview has like 5000 students or somethin rediculous. And mairst is in a differant classification. I'd say that marist dominates AAAA more than parkview does AAAAA
marian hs, mass
enough said!!!!!
i go to southlake carroll. rather, i did. i was pretty sure we/they would be on the list, and with good reason. things are first class there. i had a really good four years. the cross country team.
sounds like the most pussy school ever
your stupid....i go there and we only have 2600 kids....nice try though. learn your facts. how does marist dominate 4A? WE HAVE WON THREE YEARS IN A ROW IN XC. our wrestling team has won 3 out of the past 4 years in wrestling. swimmin has won 3 out of the last 4 years also. our school has over 40 state championships i dont know what you are talking about Marist being more dominating....
LB Poly needs to be up higher. schools in CA- poly, mitty, de la salle, lb wilson, mater dei, rancho (i know im leaving a lot out)- constantly get underrated because they all have to compete with each other. And some school in portland gets to be number one because they dominate oregon (trust me i have love for oregon but its just not as big/competative)?
As for track, in CA the state meet has no divisions, its all one. Im sorry but a school in CA winning their section title that covers an area with 10 million people is way more of an accomplishment than a school winning their division three state title five times in a row in Indiana or somewhere similar. People go nuts when someone wins the 800 1600 and 3200 and then comes back on their teams 4 x400 at their state meet, when they wouldn't have qualified for the CA state finals in half of their events.
Im not sure since im not from there, but I would bet schools in NY TX and FL get shafted too...
and im sorry but any school that gets to be number one because of a softball team should be ashamed
4. Miami (Fla.) Northwestern

they didn't even win florida's all-sports award for their own classification
