Azusa Pacific
no question
didn't know there were naia schools in south america. LOL
yea that was kind of dumb... i really just meant that i am not opposed to leaving the USA... anyways, what is the coach of Azusa Pacific like???
any school that Scott Simmons is at if you are distance runner. North Dakota, western Virginia, south America. Doesn't matter.
Where he goes so should you.

friendly.
knowledgeable.
i'm a former GSAC athlete and coach, and found that even with his youth he was a better coach than most of the GSAC XC coaches. he's transitioned well into a solid program and has helped the good runners improve, and has helped the great runners acheive their potential.
Steve Scott is another good NAIA coach. CSU San Marcos.
Shorter College in Rome, Ga has a very new program. The school is very motivated to develop it into a top NAIA program over the next few years. They have a great coach and some of the best places to train in the country. It could be a good pick for personal development...the team could be solid in 2-3 years.
Simmons (I'm not sure Scott belongs)is among the list top coaches in the NAIA, but others deserve mentioning as well. Coaches like:
Westmont's Russell Smelley
Aquinas's Dave Wood and Mike Wojciakowski
Black Hills State's Scott Walkinshaw
U of the Cumberlands'Floyd Stroud
Simon Frasier's Brit Townsend
Malone's Jack Hazen
Add Bryan College's Rodney Stoker to that list.
New program that's already gotten a lot out of some overlooked "B" recruits from nearby Chattanooga, TN.
Simmons is about to take a new job.
OXYMORON
Look at Oklahoma Baptist University - they have a tradition of being one of the best; they won the girls indoor title and the gusy outdoor title this year; the school is also ranked as one of the highest academic NAIA schools available
where is simmons going to go? do you know or is it a secret?
does scott simmons coach good middle distance?? where is he going to be at?
William Woods University seems to be an up and coming school with a very talented mens and womens team. I think they just started the program like 3 years ago and both teams have been in and out of the national rankings the past 3 years.
i'd check out ubc and sfu. both seem to do very well in terms of individual athletes, plus everytime i've visit canada i've had an awesome time (3 times to vancouver where those two schools are). not sure what the winters are like, or the academics, but most of the canadians i knew did pretty well at my school.
Winters are mild. An inch of snow will shut down the city of two million as we only have three snowplows.
SFU is situated on Burnaby mountain where the weather is slightly more unappealing than UBC which is right on the water, but you can't complain as Vancouver is an amazing city.
Both have great training grounds but I'd give UBC the nod as it's nestled right beside Pacific Spirit park, a 2,950 acre park with amazing, well kept trails.
In terms of academics, both are amazing. SFU is a very well rounded school. UBC is about twice the size of SFU in terms of school population and tends to draw more attention... see world rankings by newsweek --

Wm Woods coaches on here trying to promote their school on a message board. Maybe if they would get out and recruit more they would have a better overall program and actually send kids to Nats during the track season.
Mariposa School of Applied Textiles has made great strides in their distance program over the past year.
