tech played well.
Boise State is #1
No way... they barely beat virginia tech, an overated team with a young soft defense, granted their offense is good, beating VT is in no way "number 1" statis
Time to resurrect this thread. Looking for Sagarin to chip in. Boise State at this point is going to run the table and their only hope is that the following teams currently ranked ahead of them in the BSC standings lose one game:
Nov 5 LSU vs AL - the loser should not/does not get a 2nd chance to get into the BCS championship game.
Okla St- they have their end of regular season showdown with Okla on Dec 3rd. Should the Cowboys lose to the Sooners, they also should also be knocked out of the BCS title game.
Stanford- plays Oregon on Nov 12 and that is their last big game on the schedule. If Oregon can upset the Cardinal, that should drop them out of the BCS title picture.
Boise State- currently ranked #5 in the BCS and yes their schedule hurts them, but I think they can beat anyone. If they finish the season undefeated, they deserve a spot in the BCS title game.
Why not? I think Boise St deserves a shot.
Well no team from the Big 10 aka the Big "Fake" is going anywhere. Wisconsin up until 10 days ago was undefeated and then lost 2 games in a row.
Typical year, no, Oregon, Oklahoma, or loser or Al/LSU jumps them. But though this isn't their best team in ages, they will get the human votes due to past performance and will play for the title should two of LSU/AL, Stanford, OKst slip, and it's fairly likely they will.

Oregon jumping over BSU? No way.
"Not long ago, it seemed the regular season might end with a logjam of undefeated teams at the top of the BCS standings. Who was going to be beat Wisconsin? Or Clemson? And wouldn’t Oklahoma waltz into Stillwater on Dec. 3 for a Big 12 battle of unbeatens against Oklahoma State?
Now after two weeks in which the number of undefeated teams has dropped from 10 to six, one loss doesn’t seem like a death sentence for a team’s national title hopes. Hear that LSU and Alabama fans? And Boise State getting into the BCS championship game isn’t such a long shot anymore, either."
I've long thought that the current system is the best chance that Boise has of winning a national championship. It might be difficult for them to earn enough respect to get enough votes to make the championship game, but it is easier to do that than it would be to win 3 or 4 playoff games against good teams.
This might be their year unless people decide that they would rather see a one loss Oklahoma team (I am assuming there is no way that they would jump over an undefeated OK State or Stanford and that since Oregon already had a shot at the BCS, they wouldn't put them back in).
But I hope that no one is under the illusion that the best team is necessarily the one who wins the championship. We like championships because they are exciting, not because we want to determine the best team.
BSU already won two DI_A NCs and football became best in the western states long ago, over 30 years ago. I can't see why BSU wants to deal with Hollywood TV bozos. BSU already has way enough money in Boise given the local economy and alumni supporters. BCS doesn't want to play weak teams in non-western states which is what they have to do to satisfy Hollywood TV corporations who operate the BCS. It only hurts the athletes when BSU stoops to play outside of the west.
West Coast is college football. FSU, Stanford, Boise St, Oregon, USC are playing very well now.
I blanch each time I hear about the "injustices" to which the Boise State football program is subject. The school has a 6% percent - a lowly 6 percent - four year graduation rate - and it has around a 25% 6 year graduation rate. Yes, I recognize it is folly to carp against the hypocrisy that exists in the Division 1 revenue sports, but it is hard to escape the conclusion that this school is little more than a football team with a school attached. Yep, the school is failing in its fundamental mission to graduate its students, but heck, BSU is relevant in BCS discussions, so what else matters, right?
Looks like they're getting b**t f**ked like sissies by the unranked TCU so that pretty much answers the overranked question.
You mean like John McCain ?
Ha! Love it.
Boise looks strong. I think the Broncs might be in store for their 3rd College Football National Championships this fall. It'll be a tough season. Nothing is guaranteed, that's for sure.
