Anyone know many calories professional sprinters burn in a 100m race?

If a 200 pound sprinter jogged 100m, then yes it would be about 10 kcalories.
However, if he ran under 10 seconds for the 100m, he would be overcoming a lot of wind resistance.
So my guess would be about 40 kcals.
After the race, his metabolism would remain very high for several minutes until his body returns to it's normal core temperature.

I disagree. I don't think there's any level of physical intensity whereby you would burn 4 calories a second. someone running under 10 seconds is obviously operating at a far higher level, but I can't think of any reason (other than the very marginal difference in wind resistance that you mentioned) why they would burn more calories than someone running 11 seconds for example (at full intensity of course).
