they must be getting in some quality training in NYCbecause if you read the thread on Running trails in NYC you will wil be schooled on the vast training options in NYC. You just provided proof on how beneficial CP is!

They probably got in due to Dusen's performances. Dusen had a nice performance out west but look at the rest of the team!

Dude, why all the hate for these guys? So they didn't shine at the event, is it really that big of a deal?

I'm not from the NYC area so I don't know what the "running politics" among the NYC clubs is like. But I noticed these guys at the XC nationals in SF and they seemed cool to me.

I'd be damn happy to run 15:34.

I'm proud of my guys. We didn't hear back from the race director until Sunday night that they were in and Ryan and Joe ran a 5k on Sunday in NY, so they had to come back from that. They ran Penn for the experience, not because it was the ideal race for them. Dave Johnson was very nice to let them run... I just wish we had known sooner so we could have prepared a bit better.

By the way...

Ryan is just 19 and ran 15:19, over 40 seconds faster than he ever has, at a Princeton race 3 weeks ago. He had a bad race last night, but he will bounce back. He's a great kid with huge potential and it just didn't go his way yesterday.

Joe ran 15:16 last night and his PR is 15:15. 0.3 sec from his PR. I think that is great. And he pr'd by a minute in the 8k (25:48) this year.

Bruce is a 1500 sepcialist who ran 3:54 on Friday (fastest time in 4 years) and was doing this so he could have a cool experience. It was a 42 second PR. Our goal is for sub 3:50 in the 1500 and he is right on track.

Zach had bronchitis and didn't run for 2 weeks just a few weeks ago, so I think he did well considering.

Karl ran 14:00 and 4:11 indoors. He qualified for the OT in the marathon and ran 23:50 for 8K. All PRs.

I think we're doing just fine, but thanks for noticing. And although I had 2 guys who could have run better, 2 were very pleased with their performance.

I know I\'m bitter because I was denied entry to the OD 5000 with an entry time of 14:40. I didn\'t realize you had to lie so much to get into this meet. What kind of times did you submit for your guys...14 flat?

Next year I\'m skipping the stress and going to Bucknell.

I think one of the points that needs to be made is: don't take away an entry when your boys aren't going to run that fast. I know at least a few people with better pr's that were denied entry, just so your boys could suck it up.

What is going on,

I registered them pretty much at what you were registered at. Going into the season we were going to point towards Penn as a race to try and get under 15:00. Based on last year's results, it seemed like it would be a decent race for that. They would have been in the back, but if they hung on, they would have been with people in their range.

I called Dave Johnson because our check said it was not cashed (this was before the entries were made available) and he said "you guys are all set, the web just hasn't updated". We made travel arrangements and assumed that the race would play out like last year.

Then the entries came out with us not in the race and our check showed up cashed. So they took our money, told us we were good to go, we paid for travel, and then didn't enter our guys. I called Dave and explained the situation to him, and he said he would see what he could do. I assumed we weren't getting in and that I would have to eat the many hundreds of dollars (paid by yours truly) and so I had them run at Princeton (Bruce) and a 5k in the city on Sunday. I got back from that meet and Dave sent me an e-mail telling me they were in.

That's how it happened.

for his own good, he should have sat this one out. There are other races.
