i am advising kenyan, eritrean, ethiopian or other east african runner to consider changing the natioality as the american are racist.

what I find pathetic about this thread, is how a truly magnificent performance by Ryan Hall has become a discussion about race and then you Mesfin have simply added to it, as though you know the meaning of life and are able to judge others in your purity
soup anyone
The only way I can appreciate Hall's performance at London is if I find some way of using it to play the Race Card. Hmmmm. In particular, I will use it to beat KK and Lagat over the head for not being American-born. Also, I can use it to put down Ritz (nyah nyah nyah nyah nyah nyaaaaaaah!) and Webb (big ol' Bronx cheer).
Oh, I forgot to mention: I'm a third or fourth-rate runner myself. Why? Because I'm s--t. I suck. I put myself down all the time, privately. I honor the voices in my head that say, "You SUCK, dude!"
Of course, if I learned to just work with what I've got and stay positive--rather than relentlessly working the negative--I'd be a faster runner.
But do I know that? No. I've never figured that out.
Nor have I figured out that guys who truly excel--like Hall, KK, Lagat, and Webb--figure out pretty early on how to keep to the positive and tell themselves that anything is possible.
I'm an idiot, basically. A self-destructive piece of s--t. So I come here to Letsrun and project all my self-hatred onto really good runners who deserve better.
But you already knew that.
Actually irun is probably right. I would be 2:07:30 pace if they actually ran 26.2 miles. But they actually run about 26.6 miles. There is an extra distance added on per mile to make sure that they really run a marathon. This is just in case there is something wrong with the measuring equipment
Abdi debuted in 2:17. He ran a fast one on his SECOND try.

If you don't count Khalid K's 2:07 and Abdi's 2:08
and Salazar's NYC 2:08:13 which was found to be short.
Today, Ryan Hall's 2:08:24 would be the true American Born New American Record!
"American born," you idiot. It's not racist, it's geography.

disgusting Yankess. look their puking words
"Today, Ryan Hall's 2:08:24 would be the true American Born New American Record"
Hall had a superb run. Mesfin is worried that those darn Caucasians might get organized and produce a slew of top contenders. He's no doubt seen what's happened to boxing (look at the champs from 160 lbs on up) and is worried
Well Mesfin, look at it this way; if it weren't for the anti-Western politicos running things in the West at the moment, most of your drug fueled heroes would be out begging in the streets. Or trying to move to the those oh-so-racist Western countries that it seems everyt third worlder wants to live.
The more important question is why are the white Western countries being buried under third world immigration? Why were the laws in the West changed in so many countries to inhibit 'white' immigrants but open the floodgates to third worlders? Why only the Western lands, and not the wealthy lands in E. Asia? If the Westerners are so racist, why does everyone want to live in their countries? Look up Emmanuel Cellar and Jacob Javits, see why they pushed for the Immigration Act of 1965. Read Dr. Kevin McDonald's work on this. Then look at who did this in Australia, Ireland, Norway, Sweden, Austria and so on. How's that for getting off beam because of Mesfin's racism?

.4 miles = 43 meters only when using a GPS to measure it.
Lat time I checked, .4 miles is about 640 meters.

Now just a freaking minute. Remember that the Flora Marathon is run in London. London is in England. England uses the metric system. So Hall ran a metric 2:08:24. What does that convert to in english time?
89.155 millidays

Bottom line...American culture did not affect KK or Lagat's formative years because they didn't live here. You might want to Google formative in case you don't know what that means.
KK came to the US as a teenager. He's been running here longer than most of the posters on this board. He didn't happen to get his citizenship until much later, but he was living and training in the US long before anyone knew who he was and WAY before his first world record made him a star.

That's incorrect. Khannouchi came to the US in 1993 when he was 22.
KK came here after trouble with the Morrocan federation. yet he was raised in Morroco. The US schoools are full of bad coaches and bad influences that lead to a weak moral fiber. There is quite a difference between an aging foriegn runner who decides that in the twilight of their career to be come an american CITIZEN and that of a child born in the US and raised within our faulty system. Meb came up through the US system. Abdi came late, but has about as many bad habits as an American. KK not so. His whole life and existance were different. Also Lagat. This is no different than Tergat becoming an American this year, if he decided to. USATF would cream their jeans and expedite the process for any chance at a distance medalist, leaving US born kids who are training their asses off....SOL. Sorry guys and girls, we can recruit or buy a half dozen Kenyans, Moracans, or Russians ... etc who won't quite make their own national team. So why should a young guy keep training like PRE. Give it up TEBO, Give it up Accosta, Give it up Blood. By the time you are ready to graduate from college and make a run at the Olympics, the US will be full of ageing foreign runners who were helped along by "vitamin injections" from their managers, but now want to retire in the US.

What did Bill Clinton run in the marathon before he was elected ??
I don't know the entire history of KK but...
I do believe that KK although not a USA team member but once, if I am correct at W-champs, is the best marathoner based on time trials in the history of the sport. 9 x he has broken 2:09; 8 under 2:08; 3 x times under 2:06. A disappointment not to see KK run for the USA more then the once.
KK worked in NY city washing dishes & running at night without a sponsor. He is an American.
You don't know the first thing about what you're saying. The only special expedition in the citizenship requests was that Lagat and Khannouchi are married to American citizens. That's it. USATF did not throw money and an American passport at these guys and recruit them.
Please go tell you immigrant neighbor who recently got his/her citizenship that they're not really "American" and that they're just a foreign mercenary. How ridiculous, especially in such a diverse land of immigrants as the USA.
This has to be picture of the weekend!
Nobody is trying to denigrate their accomplishments or their status as Americans. The point people are trying to make is NOT that they are not proud of the accomplishments of recent immigrants.
Rather, they are trying to say that they are especially proud of someone who has had success and was born here.
You might be taken seriously if you weren't illiterate.
